Track Review with Julian Skiboat
Julian Skiboat, the 24 year-old multi instrumentalist and singer-songwriter from San Antonio, began writing music at the age of 18 whilst playing as the drummer for local pop-punk bands in his hometown. In 2020, he released his debut EP nice to meet u which has amassed over one million streams to date.
Now, Julian is back with his first single of 2021 ‘Flowers’. The track explores how some things really aren’t the end of the world and that just because something hasn’t gone to plan, it doesn’t mean it cannot be fixed.
Skiboat wants to use his music to encourage people to hold onto the belief that better times are always ahead. The songwriter shares, “I think with my upcoming songs and projects I really want to dive into that “it could be worse”, “I can make it through this” message.”
The track features laid-back melodies, gentle jazz-tinged guitar riffs and reflective lyrics. Skiboat will have you swaying gently back and forth as his hazy vocals settle over you, addictive in their warmth and serenity.
The tune has a little step-up in rhythm half-way through. It is an uplifting boost that corresponds to the message of the song that things do get better. A perfect song for now.
