The Nottingham-based rock-pop five-piece, The Mocking Jays, recently released their new single ‘Kiss My Neck’. After speaking to the band they revealed that the song is based on “real events” and is about “having a friend who has only ever been that, and then one night that changing”. The track focuses on the thoughts that occur when you decide that feeling is “worth acting upon and risking the friendship over” but as the story unravels it is left “open-ended”. This is the most personal song that the band has released to date and will be relatable for so many listeners. The funky-rhythm section, strong vocals and catchy guitar riffs are addictive and get me up dancing every time. I am absolutely in love with this song and I am excited to see what the band will release next.
The band is currently in the studio working on some secret projects that will be released throughout 2019! So keep your eye on this group because big things are going to happen next year! The band has also stepped in to help us all get through the colder days and longer nights and have each chosen their favourite song to listen to on a rainy today:
George (Rhythm Guitar and Vocals) – My Sweet Lord by George Harrison
Sam (Drums and Vocals) – I’d Love It If We Made It by The 1975
Jacob (Lead Vocals) – All Fired Up by Matt Corby
Lewis (Lead Guitar and Vocals) – Pretty Pimpin by Kurt Vile
Alex ( Bass Guitar and Vocals) – Raining by The Front-Bottoms
